Chapter I · Discover · Stage 1/9
Why should this project exist?
A development begins with a useful change in the world: a place for a business to operate, a home people can afford, or a tired building brought back into use. A vision becomes a thesis when you state who needs that change, why they will pay for it and what would make you walk away. Starting with a building shape before understanding those needs can lock the team into the wrong answer.
The decision to take forward
Who is the intended user, and what problem do they have?
What the next team needs
- A one-page development thesis
- Measurable success criteria
- Research budget and stop conditions
Meanwhile, at Juniper Ridge
Before there is a building, there is a business need. Maya works with the chief information officer and application owners to plan a twelve-megawatt enterprise data center. One company will own the campus and use it for its own applications, data and private cloud. The first decision is whether the workload forecast and resilience needs justify investigating a dedicated facility.
